Every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and heard
And every educator deserves the support, tools, and resources to make that happen, without burning out or giving up personal time to research and planning.
The request that inspired a different kind of support for educators.
How it started
FROM A CLASSROOM NEED TO A LIFELONG MISSION
Early in my career, an administrator asked me to build a student program from the ground up. It wasn’t a one-time request. Year after year, launching a new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program meant creating something meaningful with very little to start from.
The activities available in books didn’t reflect our students’ lives. Stories about “Bobby the football star” and “Susie the head cheerleader” missed the mark in a school without a football team or even a gym. Our students walked to the local park for PE.
So I began creating activities and lesson plans that met our students where they were.
Founded in 2008
Informed Decisions grew from that work into a lifelong mission: helping secondary students build the skills to make informed decisions about their lives and futures.
As I trained teachers to facilitate SEL programs, I began to see changes within schools: fewer classroom disruptions, stronger student engagement, higher attendance, and improved graduation rates.
